I came across this blog I set up last year, it's still in good working order so I'm using it again as I reconsider the development of my website.
I have this terrible habit of setting things up only to see them crash again or go nowhere. I just haven't gone about it the right way. My trend has always been to try and make things happen through pushing and ambition but this is ending now.
In a situation last week a friend enthusiastically affirmed "ambition Ronnie!", to which my reply was that I've lived a life of ambition and it doesn't work. Try instead focus and self responsibility, taking ultimate responsibility for everything we do in life and in everything that happens to us. And to focus our efforts wholeheartedly on whatever is happening right now in our experience.
There's a difference in this contrary to ambition in that ambition projects a yearning into the future based on ideas of today. It pushes, it grasps and it strives to make things happen against the grain. Sometimes it succeeds but if it does it's rarely sustained.
By being more real and authentic our life experience gets clearer as we reduce reliance on the imagination of ourselves including any assumptions or wishful thinking. Such things carry very little weight so our dreams more easily collapse.
I find it better to observe the flow of experience coming in and out my life and to do what's happening here and now. To do it to the best of my ability. Trust also is essential and to let go of petty desire. This helps our happiness as we're no longer pushing, grasping, and disappointing ourselves when things don't work.
Ronnie
